    Echo Vascular

The Cameron Regional Medical Center has attained recognition for its commitment to providing a high level of patient care and quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Stroke, a disorder of the blood supply to the brain, is the third leading cause of death and disability in this country.

    Early Detection

Early detection of life threatening vascular diseases is possible through the use of non-invasive (ultrasound) vascular testing techniques performed within our vascular lab. The test is safe, simple and because we are a self-contained laboratory, your test results are available to you and your physician quickly. We encourage you to discuss any questions that you may have with your physician or our vascular ultrasound technicians to fully understand the benefits available through our vascular laboratory.

    Comfort Care Hospice

The Comfort Care Hospice team dedicates its time and effort to assisting terminally-ill patients with living the most comfortable and fulfilling life possible. This enables patients and their families to make the most of their remaining months and days together. Specially-trained nurses and staff members work to provide compassionate medical, social, and spiritual care (as desired) for this part of life’s journey.

Hospice care is designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. Providing personalized care that is sensitive to the desires of the individual and his/her family enables the focus to remain on dignity and comfort. Services can be provided at the patient’s home, in an assisted living facility, or in a nursing home.

Hospice is needed when a person has changed his/her medical treatment goals from curative care to comfort care, and when the attending physician determines that a terminal illness has a prognosis of six months or less. At that time, Comfort Care Hospice will focus on alleviating the symptoms related to the illness to provide the best possible quality of life for the comfort of the patient and the family’s peace of mind.

Hospice Care is a Team Approach

The team is made up of the patient and attending physician, the Hospice Medical Director, RNs, LPNs, certified Hospice aides, social worker, Spiritual Care Coordinator, Bereavement Specialist, and volunteers.

    Hospice Care Service Areas

Comfort Care Hospice serves most areas of eleven surrounding counties: Andrew, Buchanan, Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Livingston, and Ray.

    Coverage

Hospice services are covered by Medicare and Medicaid. We also work diligently to coordinate with private insurance companies to maximize the Hospice benefit.

Comfort Care Hospice is a subsidiary of Cameron Regional Medical Center. For over twenty years, we have been providing quality care and support for the journey of life.

    Renal Dialysis/Nephrology

Two Locations for Your Comfort and Convenience

Located in Medical Plaza I at Cameron Regional Medical Center, our Medicare-certified outpatient dialysis unit provides high quality, in-center hemodialysis in a caring, compassionate environment. Our high staff-to-patient ratio, along with our on-site, full-time kidney physician (Nephrologist), Shahzad Shafique, M.D., result in superior patient outcomes that are above both state and national averages.

We also have a Medicare-certified outpatient dialysis unit in Bethany, Missouri. The same standards of care apply here as well – all with the same goal of quality, compassionate care for you or your loved one.

Private, state-of-the art TVs and recliners with heat/massage provide extra comfort during dialysis treatments. Our highly-trained, results-oriented team has over 90 years combined kidney/dialysis experience to provide the quality services you expect and deserve.

Dr. Shafique is Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, serving as Medical Director for both locations. Between Cameron and Bethany, he is available five days per week to meet your kidney care and dialysis-related needs.

We also provide home peritoneal dialysis, with in-home training and support for those patients wanting the independence and freedom to dialyze at home.

In addition, Cameron Regional Medical Center provides inpatient, acute dialysis. Dr. Shafique has Active Staff/admitting privileges, enabling him to provide continuity of care from outpatient services to an inpatient basis. Consequently, you don’t have to travel to an urban center to receive quality kidney care while in the hospital.

Please call to arrange a visit. We welcome the opportunity to show off our facilities and staff members!

    Therapies/Rehabilitation

    Cardiac Rehabilitation

The outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation program at CRMC is an extremely beneficial outpatient phase for those who have recently experienced a cardiac event or complication and have been discharged from the hospital. By initiating Cardiac Rehab after a coronary event or heart procedure, the patient is given the best opportunity to develop a healthy and more active lifestyle.

Through physician referral, CRMC patients receive a thorough initial medical evaluation of their physical, emotional, social, and nutritional state. A customized, goal-oriented program is then designed to best meet the physical reconditioning and retraining needs of the individual. Utilizing exercise equipment, monitoring devices, and the latest techniques, CRMC staff members work to enable each patient to achieve his or her maximum potential for recovery and enhanced quality of life.

With a goal of improving each cardiac patient’s health and prognosis (long-term outcome), this comprehensive program includes cardiac risk factor modification, education, and counseling. Patients are monitored by staff certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Some of the benefits to be realized from CRMC’s Cardiac Rehab program include:
    • Improvement in exercise tolerance
    • Improvement in symptoms
    • Improvement in blood lipid (cholesterol) levels
    • Reduction in elevated blood pressure
    • Weight reduction
    • Reduction of stress
