Pre-Surgical Steps:
- You will receive a folder with detailed doctor’s orders for any required bloodwork or diagnostic testing.
- your physician may identify additional testing that is needed
Pre-Surgery Instructions
- Communication:You will receive a call from our Surgery staff a few days before your procedure with specific instructions and details.
- Support Person:One support person may accompany you to the hospital and must drive you home after surgery. If you are under general anesthesia or sedation, an adult must care for you for 12-24 hours post-surgery.
- Childcare:Children under 16 are not allowed in the hospital. Please make childcare arrangements. Teen drivers may act as your support person.
- Pediatric Patients:Pediatric patients are allowed TWO parents/support persons during the surgery process.
- Female Patients:Women of childbearing age will be asked to submit a urine specimen for pregnancy screening unless they have undergone tubal sterilization or a hysterectomy.
- GI Patients:Patients should expect a phone call a few days prior to scheduled surgery to discuss check in time, bowel prep instructions, and a brief health history.
- What to Bring:
- A current, working telephone number where you can reliably be reached.
- An accurate and up-to-date list of medications and allergies.
- Your completed pre-anesthesia questionnaire, found in your Surgery folder.
Rehabilitation
- Inpatient Rehabilitation:
- Physical and occupational therapy sessions are provided during your hospital stay to aid your recovery process.
- Outpatient Rehabilitation:
- Our experienced physical and occupational therapists will continue working with you to ensure your recovery progresses after you leave the hospital.
