What is Inpatient Rehabilitation?

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Cameron Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a medically-supervised program designed to evaluate, treat, train, and educate adults recovering from significant health conditions or injuries. Our goal is to help patients regain independence and improve their ability to perform daily activities after experiencing a stroke, amputation, multiple trauma injuries, neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis (MS), or long-term hospitalizations.

Our rehabilitation program provides intensive therapy in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere, featuring a fully-equipped kitchen and specialized training areas. The unit is Medicare-certified and offers comprehensive, results-oriented services in a self-contained six-bed unit with dedicated medical staff.

CRMC’s multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to develop individualized care plans, ensuring that each patient receives personalized, high-quality care aimed at achieving maximum recovery and independence.

Who Can Benefit From Inpatient Rehabilitation?

Patients who meet the following criteria may qualify for inpatient rehabilitation:

  • Must be medically stable and possess the potential for functional improvement.
  • Must be able to tolerate a minimum of three hours of therapy per day (spread across different therapy disciplines).
  • Require multidisciplinary rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, respiratory, or speech therapy and require daily physician oversight.
  • Have a qualifying condition such as:
  • Neurological disorders (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s disease).
  • Orthopedic conditions (multiple fractures, amputations).
  • Multiple trauma injuries or spinal cord injuries.
  • Post-surgical recovery requiring rehabilitation before returning home.

Innovative Rehabilitation Technology – I Care System

The I Care System, purchased by the Cameron Regional Medical Center Foundation in March 2014, was the first such unit in Missouri. This state-of-the-art technology is used in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation to enhance recovery outcomes. The system provides real-time monitoring and feedback to improve mobility, endurance, and functional strength.
